    Generac’s Alternator Design team is seeking a mechanical engineering intern. Intern will work with the engineering team to create, review and modify bills of material, drawings, parts and assembly models; review and compose change notices, perform various design calculations and analyses, design machine components and fixtures, assist with alternator integration and testing as well as prototype builds. Additional responsibilities include manufacturing, service and alternator test lab support. Participant will develop engineering skills through challenging assignments and usage of technical tools along with exposure to multidisciplinary nature of electrical machine design.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include:

    • Collect and organize field and lab test data
    • Create CREO models and drawings templates
    • Create and maintain bills of material
    • Assist Engineers in tolerance stack-ups

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program in Mechanical Engineering

     Preferred Qualifications:

    • Conceptualization and visualization skills
    • Understanding or working knowledge of CAD (CREO preferred)
    • Strong time management, prioritization & analytical problem solving
    • Ability to perform detail oriented work with high degree of accuracy

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
