    Generac Power Systems – Generac’s products are in use round the world 24/7 and are recognized as one of the top brands in power generation. Our office in Waukesha, WI is seeking an Electronics ATE Engineer

    The ATE Engineer will create test suites using National Instruments LabView and Test Stand software for HIL/SIL test systems. These test systems are used both in the development phases of new products and for automated (rapid) regression testing of firmware.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Applies engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services and processes;
    • Helps or creates test procedures for both new and existing systems;
    • Designs and creates test suites for HIL/SIL testing of control systems using LabView and Test Stand;
    • Designs and creates test suites suitable for automated regression testing of firmware;
    • Designs and creates tests to aid in the development of new products;
    • Recommends design changes and assists in their implementation;
    • Runs or assists in the test process;
    • Creates (automated) test reports;


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Four year degree in software, electronics, or related engineering discipline;
    • 5  years of relevant work experience

    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Thorough knowledge of LabView and Test stand programming;
    • Understands at least the basics of electronics hardware;
    • Understands the use of basic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and meters;
    • Ability to create test suites using an Ethernet interface to the DUT;
    • Ability to create test suites using a serial interface to the DUT;
    • Good knowledge of serial interfaces and protocols;
    • Experience in using Microsoft Excel and Word;

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU protocols;
    • Experience with the following   - embedded ‘C’Firmware, programming languages, Linux shell scripts
    • Knowledge of microprocessor control systems including PID loops
    • Automotive or Generator experience;

    Physical Demands:   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
