    Generac Mobile Products – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our office in Berlin, WI is seeking a Sr. Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist.

     

    The Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day environmental, health and safety functions at an assigned location. This includes, but is not limited to, implementing the organization’s safety program, working with personnel to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, monitoring the facility and processes for adherence to OSHA, EPA, Wisconsin DNR, DOT, and other local regulations and guidelines. Additionally, this role is responsible for the elimination of industrial incidents, conducting environmental monitoring and reporting, providing assistance with environmental permit applications, and assisting with internal EHS audits. This position works closely with cross-functional teams throughout the facility and leads the pursuit of zero incidents.

     

    This position reports to the Director of Operations

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Provide environmental, health, and safety leadership to the facility and engages employees throughout the facility.
    • Direct development, maintenance, and goal achievement in support of corporate, strategic initiatives designed to produce measured world-class performance.
    • Manage and perform the planning, training, inspection, reporting and recordkeeping requirements for all environmental and safety compliance programs.
    • Perform ergonomic and safety risk assessments virtually or hands-on for product and process capability.
    • Lead the identification, assessment and resolution of ergonomic issues including physical part validation of acceptability to ergonomic standards.
    • Conduct audits to be used to ensure that consistent, best-in-class results and compliance are followed to enable operational excellence. Prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
    • Observe workers to determine proper use of prescribed safety equipment and procedures. Train and demonstrate proper use of safety equipment.
    • Ensure that local, state and federal environmental and safety regulations, codes and rules are followed.
    • Manage the facility SDS/Hazard Communication program.
    • Investigate incidents (including injuries, property damage, near misses, releases, and losses) to determine root causes and prepares/directs corrective and preventive action plans.
    • Conduct and document monthly inspections of hazardous waste accumulation/chemical storage areas.
    • Minimize waste by driving initiatives surrounding reduction, recycling and supply chain partnerships.
    • Serve as the primary hazardous waste engineer, leading efforts to reduce hazardous waste and implement recycling programs. Direct industrial hygiene sampling and support.
    • Lead Executive and Employee Safety Committees.
    • Act as SAP Super User within functional area as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related field OR equivalent experience in the Operations function within a similar working environment;
    • 2 years manufacturing ergonomics experience with analysis tools.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated understanding of OSHA, EPA, WDNR, DOT and local regulations;
    • Proven knowledge of safety equipment and standards;
    • Demonstrated ability to influence management, teams and individuals across multiple functions within the organization;
    • Excellent working knowledge of ergonomic analysis tools;
    • Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast paced environment;
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills;
    • Ability to travel within Wisconsin up to 10% of the time to develop an understanding of the wider organizational challenges and perform internal EHS audits.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • MBA;
    • CHMM, CSP, CIH, or PE Certification;
    • Implementation experience with safety related programs (ISO, VPP, etc.);
    • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.

     

    Office Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel. U.S. domestic and International travel required (10-15%).

     

    Production Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; and talk and hear.  The employee is regularly required to walk; stoop; crouch; bend and reach above shoulders.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
