    Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our distribution center in Whitewater, WI is seeking a Material Handler Team Lead.

     

    Job Summary:

    The Material Handler Team Lead, Leads the daily operation of a materials area with responsibility to achieve area metrics of safety, quality, delivery, inventory accuracy, productivity and ensuring line side materials are picked and presented. Success in this role is defined by a safe work environment, daily order execution, workforce flexibility, productivity, process adherence, and training/development. This will be measured by ongoing improvements in driving safety, quality, delivery, inventory accuracy, and productivity

    Responsibilities

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Leads team and takes ownership of area to continuously improve area 6S resulting in a safer, more productive work environment.
    • Implements process improvements to continuously improve safety, quality, productivity, and work environment.
    • Conducts audits to ensure team members are following standardized operating procedures and adhering to all safety standards.
    • Adheres to all company policies, state and federal regulations.
    • Adheres to facility Emergency Action Plan and assist in defined procedures.
    • Ability to perform reading, writing, and math functions.
    • Maintains daily management boards; analyzes issues and leads problem solving (8D, 5 whys, Cause and effect diagrams, etc.) resulting in effective countermeasures.
    • Trains/cross trains team members in all aspects of their assignments of being able to fully complete work from start to finish according to standard work/work instructions.
    • Assists in onboarding of new employees.
    • Leads daily communication to team members reviewing achievement to area metrics and progress of countermeasures/projects.
    • Support daily communication to Supervisor of issues impacting safety, quality, delivery, and productivity with appropriate countermeasures.
    • Ensures safety compliance of work area (inspections, PPE usage, certifications, labeling, etc)

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

     

    • High School, or Certification with 0-3 years of leadership experience, or its equivalent.
    • Supply chain experience 1-3 years 

     

    Additional Qualifications:

     

    • Operate a forklift or other equipment to transport materials within the factory
    • Practice safe working habits, following safety guidelines to operation and support of company initiatives
    • Enter/maintain/transact materials in Generac ERP
    • Ability to identify and resolve basic problems
    • Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
    • Models positive and professional work ethics.
    • Effective communication skills

    Level of Independence: Report to Materials Supervisor.

    Supervisors provide the employees with guidance of prioritization of work, periodic follow up, and process/quality resources. Employees are able to operate independently when an employee displays the ability to perform all the key duties listed above.
