    Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our office in Waukesha, WI is seeking a Product Manager within our Business to focus on components to support all our product categories.

     

    The Product Manager develops product strategy and priorities for their specific products. They are responsible to cross functionally ensure the successful launch of new products and the product lifecycle. This role also will prioritize the creation of their strategies with other Product Manager and align them with the needs of the business and market demands. The Product Manager gathers and maintains category foundational research and synthesizes data into facts and trends that validate company direction on product development. This role drives innovation-based three year product roadmap and interfaces with Engineering to understand critical I.P. (Intellectual Property) landscape such as new technologies. This role interfaces with multiple functions to understand regulatory standards, legislation, and intellectual property to update product category strategy as needed.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develops product category strategy to drive revenue and profitability for assigned product lines.
    • Utilizes Key Performance Indicators to measure market share, revenue, and margin.
    • Collaborates with other product managers to prioritize and align product roadmaps to drive successful global products.
    • Gathers and maintains industry and consumer category intelligence.
    • Synthesizes data into facts and trends that validate company direction on product development.
    • Serves as knowledge expert in product category relative to product capability, technical specifications and features, market drivers and the competitive landscape.
    • Drives innovation-based three year product roadmap to deliver concept ideation, new product introduction, product life cycle management, paths to market, and cost reductions.
    • Build and present quantifiable reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Collaborate formally and informally across business functions.
    • Indirectly lead teams to move projects through the stage gate development process.
    • Drive activities to support key launch events or product milestones.
    • Work collaboratively with the internal and external resources to understand critical intellectual property, regulatory standards, and legislation related to the product category strategy.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field
    • 3 years of progressive work experience in marketing product management

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Technical background or experience in at least one of the following areas: Electronics, Controls, Power Generation, Industrial Equipment
    • Demonstrates capability to gather and utilize market analysis to understand the competitive landscape and drive product development decisions.
    • Proven ability to articulate a business case to stakeholders and customers, including relevant product and market information tailored to the audience.
    • Utilized technical skills for understanding and driving new product development in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
    • Proven ability to conceive, develop and launch new products using a cross-functional approach.
    • Prior experience as a product manager, preferably managing industrial or commercial products or technologies.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong presentation skills.
    • Effective organizational and prioritization skills.
    • Proactively identify and socialize innovative solutions.
    • Comprehend technical information and convey to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Worked in a fast-paced environment and manage ambiguity with a penchant for action.
    • Enthusiastically lead cross-functional teams through change management.


    Physical Demands:

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Travel 25-50%, both regional and international.
