    Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our office in Waukesha, WI is seeking a Material Handler III.

     

    The Material Handler III will be responsible for all material handling needs, primarily picking warehoused parts and delivering to assembly areas to ensure efficient production. Work closely with production lines to ensure full utilization of people, materials, and equipment to meet customer demand. The Material Handler will be required to achieve company standards for safety, quality, and productivity. This position reports directly to Materials Manager or Supervisor

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work schedule as define and overtime as required.
    • Under limited supervision, is responsible for complex assignments which require a broad understanding of the discipline or function and all related areas. Exercises latitude in determining approach to work and/or use of procedures, policies, or processes.  Work is typically only evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. May act as a lead and/or project leader. May provide guidance to other personnel.
    • Requires broad knowledge and skills in the discipline and related fields, in completing assignments in a creative and effective manner.  Expected to mentor and transfer knowledge to more junior staff members.
    • Provides solutions in resolving complex problems that may impact established policies and procedures.  Frequently exercises judgment in interpreting procedures and practices and in recommending changes.
    • Interacts with a wide network of employees in order to resolve complex issues and provide needed change in operational effectiveness. Impact of errors of decisions may require substantial resources to correct.
    • Maintain fork lift daily inspections
    • Maintain stock area
    • Uses data, initiative and judgment to solve problems.
    • Accepts responsibility for own actions, follows through on commitments.                                                                                                                                                                             Participate in team meets and exchange job related information      

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

     

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Associates Degree, or Certification
    • 4+ years of experience.

     

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Operate a forklift or other equipment to transport materials within the factory
    • Practice safe working habits, following safety guidelines to operation and support of company initiatives
    • Enter/maintain/transact materials in Generac ERP
    • Models positive and professional work ethics.
    • Effective communication skills
    • Works on assignments that could be moderate to complex in nature.
    • Has the ability to provide seamless coverage when asked to flex between different facility functions.
    • Possesses leadership skills that will effectively direct a team.
    • Cross trained in all aspects for material handling
    • Proactively identifies improvement opportunities and takes action to implement new processes
    • Has the ability to maintain a professional rapport with support groups and peers while achieving results.
    • Has the ability to manage team priorities and demonstrates a high level of initiative.
    • Has the ability to provide coverage and be the line contact in the absence of a Materials Supervisor

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Advanced problem solving knowledge.
    • Ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math functions.
    • Advanced PC knowledge

    High level of attention to detail and accuracy

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls and talk or hear.  The employee is regularly required to walk; stoop; crouch; bend and reach above shoulders.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Temperatures can vary from cool to warm depending upon the season. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
