    Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our office in Jefferson, WI is seeking a Materials Manager.


    The Materials Manager is responsible for material flow from receiving/inspection to line side presentation for production including end-of-line pick, pack and ship. This position is responsible for driving significant continuous improvement initiatives in material handling, inventory accuracy, cycle counting and timely transactional reporting. This role is also responsible for ongoing improvements in delivery performance (internal and external), cycle count progress, cycle count accuracy, uninterrupted material movement for production lines and efficient use of labor resources. This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager.


    • Ensures material flow from incoming receiving/inspection to line side presentation for production including end-of-line pick, pack & ship (incoming receiving/inspection, offsite raw warehousing storage & control, de-trashing, all material movements, supermarket sizing & replenishment).
    • Oversees inventory management and control, accuracy, and established inventory guidelines and procedures.
    • Ensures efficient and accurate materials presentation to support production operations.
    • Oversees process execution for excess and obsolete materials.
    • Manages and optimizes daily warehousing operations including staging, cycle count, receiving, storage of materials, shipping of finished goods and in-direct materials.
    • Develops and implements standard process and strategies that enable material velocity.
    • Develops and challenges resources to improve performance through systems utilization and process improvements.
    • Leads and improves Material/Inventory Management best practices including Warehouse Management (Cycle Count Accuracy, Transactions, Bar Coding, RFID) and Advance Replenishment Methods (MRP, Stocking Programs, VMI, Consignment, Re-Order Point and Direct Pull), Fill Rate (Overtime Delivery), and Working Capital (Inventory Turns), and Material Margins (TCO).
    • Has a solid understanding of the broad business. Evaluates situations objectively and demonstrates the ability to make decisions that are intended to have a positive impact on work performance or area and the total business.
    • Demonstrates personal flexibility in approach and ideas and responds positively and supports changes in procedures, process, technology, responsibility and assignments.
    • Accountable for defining resource needs and works within budget and staffing parameters to accomplish objectives for area of responsibility.


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain OR equivalent experience in the Operations function within a similar working environment;
    • 5 years of progressive Supply Chain management experience in similar work environment.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles;
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills;
    • Demonstrated ability to influence senior management, teams and individuals across multiple functions;
    • Experience collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions;
    • Experience operating in high mix, low volume and high volume, low mix production environments;
    • Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast paced environment;
    • Solid quantitative skill set and the ability to analyze, think and communicate with well-supported data;
    • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, including the ability to identify creative and effective solutions and the ability to ask the right questions, help frame logical conclusions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Advanced degree in Supply Chain Management or MBA;
    • Experience in international logistics;
    • ERP/MRP user (SAP/Oracle);
    • Member of the Association for Operations Management (APICS).

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
