    Job Summary: The Senior NPI Sourcing Manager is responsible for working within the Global business product platform teams. The Senior NPI Sourcing Manager leads, coaches, trains, and manages a group of NPI specialists and process development team that drive the project material cost savings, delivery, and quality roadmaps during the new product introduction phase, as well as, leads the NPI Sourcing group with group standardization processes, continuous improvement efforts, reporting, governance, and material cost savings reporting. This role also supports the NPI development for the technology and product manufacturability through the supplier / business partner interface within the NPI sourcing phase and through the development of the product through to product launch.  

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Execute and manage multiple project timelines within the Generac Development Process (GDP) and ensuring meeting the supplier on Time Delivery (OTD) performance, quality, and costing targets through the process phases;
    • Develop material product cost sourcing strategy for the NPI programs within the business product platforms;
    • Develop and lead training efforts for the NPI Sourcing group related to process changes, continuous improvements and systems enhancements and reporting;
    • Provide direction and leadership for negotiation and cost analysis that the NPI specialists prepare from different suppliers, utilizing the (TCO) total cost of ownership tools, with further analysis on material cost, tooling, cost, NRE, logistics cost, etc;
    • Coordinates with project teams during the development of new technology roadmap’s that are required for a new or existing product;
    • Develop, manage, and communicate the reports and tools used by the NPI Sourcing group for data analysis; project decision making, reporting of cost savings, governance, group standardization, and continuous improvement tools;
    • Work directly with IT to enhance and utilize the enterprise business tools (GRID, Hana, Windchill, cerebral, SharePoint, etc.) to support NPI Sourcing policies and procedures, GDP process charters, and for ad hoc and departmental reporting for performance measurement and group KPIs;
    • Manage multiple projects within product platforms, including and not limited to, Bill of Material (BOM) completion, supplier negotiation, project management completeness, and material readiness throughout all milestones;
    • Manage team of NPI Specialists that execute PPAP orders for new parts of sustaining or end of life new parts from the order inception, quality inspection review and engineering sign-off;
    • Lead and support price negotiations related to material product costs within their respective product family;
    • Manage Product platform NPI related ECO’s and sustaining ECO’s that affect new part changes related to the 3 year product plan;
    • Lead development of make / buy materials strategies with Operations;
    • Own project budget related to NPI sourcing and responsible for meeting project requirements related to supplier performance, quality, and cost;
    • Responsible for tracking CAPEX and expense of costs related to products within their respective product families;
    • Conduct and facilitate technical design reviews with suppliers, in order to confirm functionality of the part / component and manufacturability;
    • Participate in quality and surveillance audits;
    • Act as SAP Super User within functional area as assigned;
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field OR equivalent experience;
    • 10+ years’ experience in Supplier Quality/Management;
    • CPIM or APICS equivalent combination of education and / or experience (backgrounds: Commodity Management, Materials Management, Procurement, Project Management;
    • 5+ years’ experience with Project Management acting in a lead capacity role;
    • Ability to travel international & domestic up to 30%. 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong interpersonal skills;
    • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment;
    • Thorough knowledge of purchasing techniques including strategic supplier concepts, as well as, thorough knowledge of business analytical tool;
    • Understanding of inventory management requirements planning, inventory consignment, and supplier inventory agreements;
    • Previous experience working in the development cycle of new products.
    • LEAN and Kaizan experience;
    • Continuous improvement, Six Sigma concepts & methodologies, and work experience as a leader with excellent negotiation skills;
    • Excellent communications and presentation skills with the ability to establish good working relationships with suppliers and internal customers (ERB, SGS War Room, Gate reviews, Supplier reviews, upper management, internal stakeholder reviews);
    • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.
