    Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our office in Waukesha, WI is seeking a User Experience Designer to create amazing user experiences for commercial products.  The UX Designer should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior UI skills and be able to translate high-level requirements into engaging user experiences. This individual excels at providing both highly analytical as well as highly creative ideas to a design engagement. This role will be required to develop code for the application as needed.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
    • Execute all visual design stages from concept to hand-off to engineering to production release
    • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
    • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
    • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
    • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define UI requirements, system goals and resolve UI issues
    • Develop presentation code to support the completion of the application design
    • Maintain technical expertise in emerging UI/UX trends
    • Write user and UI specifications to support product needs
    • Develop code to support the completion of the application architecture, as needed
    • Support the development of new applications and enhancements to existing web and mobile applications using best practice design patters to ensure robust scalability

     

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field in lieu of degree a minimum of 8 years’ related experience
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial software development in one or more of the following roles: Designer, Developer, Software Engineer, Systems Analyst or equivalent.
    • Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, C#, Java

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Sound working knowledge of Motion graphics design and production, Android and iOS devices
    • Executing interaction design and visual design as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
    • Collaborating on user experience planning with solution architect
    • Consulting with internal customers and own experience design decisions
    • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks and associated design tools
    • Experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Performing other duties as assigned 
    • Experience working cross-functionally and with a global team

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
