    Generac Power Systems Join the leader in the power industry!  Our Corporate Headquarters in Waukesha, WI is seeking a Senior Engineer for our Industrial Generator Engineering Division.

    In this highly visible position, the Senior Engineer will be responsible for leading all engineering aspects of the product development projects assigned to him/her including interfacing with the cross functional team consisting of engineering, operations (industrial engineering, production, and material procurement), sourcing, quality, service, and marketing.



    • Provide new product development leadership in the Industrial (Diesel and Gas) generator product areas
    • Provide engineering leadership and design oversight functions for new product development projects including; creating and maintaining development schedules, executing product development plans (schedule, product cost, resources to complete project, quality targets, product specification adherence, development and prove out of product validation test plans, etc.), interfacing with internal company personnel.
    • Provide technical leadership for assigned projects
    • Assist in reviewing and revising existing procedures, processes, and engineering standards. Assist in developing new standards and procedures where needed.
    • Lead the design teams
    • Produce complete and optimized product designs with regard to specification and functionality, cost, schedule, budget, and time to market considerations.
    • Defining technical specifications
    • Obtaining agency approvals
    • Ensure product designs are manufacturable (use of DFM methodologies)
    • Create and maintain BOMs for products
    • Work with internal customers to define and implement product improvements
    • Acts as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers
    • Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary
    • Other duties as assigned


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
    • 5 - 10 years of relevant work experience, including 2 or more years experience using CAD 3D modeling software (Creo or similar)
    • Applies engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services and processes;
    • Able to solve complex engineering problems;
    • Strong decision-making skills;
    • MS Excel, MS Word
    • Excellent oral and written communication;
    • Product experience with any of the following engine driven products; gensets, welders, heavy equipment, earth movers, tractors, irrigation pumps, automobiles, compressors, chillers, agricultural equipment, forklifts, marine propulsion systems OR power plant experience.
    • Design experience with any of the following; sheet metal enclosures, frames, fuels tanks, castings, plastics, precision machined components, engines systems (fuel, cooling, controls, emissions, engine control units (ECU), turbochargers, natural gas fuel regulators), thermodynamic management, fluid management (hoses, fittings, etc), engine sensors (magnetic pickups, temperature switches, pressure gauges, etc.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 4 or more years experience in new product development
