    Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our Corporate HQ in Waukesha, WI, is seeking a Senior Development Engineer for the Home Standby Team.


    The Senior Development Engineer will plan and execute product development projects of Home Standby products.  He/she will interface with the cross functional team consisting of engineering (design and test), operations (industrial engineering, production, and material procurement, sourcing, quality, service, and marketing). He/she will also define the functional specifications of the product and its subsystems (engine, alternator, controls, etc.) in order to meet application requirements


    This position reports to the Engineering Manager.



    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Designs, validates, and brings new products to market.
    • Define/conduct tests thoroughly and efficiently due to solid understanding of requirements
    • Write and conduct DVP&Rs
    • Write procedures and work instructions
    • Document work performed using engineering reports
    • Works closely with the design team on DFMEAs, Bills of Materials, Statements of Requirements, etc.
    • Solve problems utilizing engineering methodology
    • Build/maintain rapport with cross functional groups required to complete projects
    • Mentor less experienced team members
    • Provide direction/solutions to problems proactively
    • Prioritize projects based on business needs
    • Focus on projects and deliver on time per business needs
    • Take ownership for actions and projects
    • Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline;
    • 5 - 10 years of relevant work experience;
    • Applies engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services and processes;
    • Able to solve complex engineering problems;
    • Strong decision-making skills;
    • Technical Skills to include 3D modeling (Creo or SolidWorks);
    • Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
    • Excellent oral and written communication;
    • Experience with machine design.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Experience with product development;
    • Desire to lead projects including cross functional teams;
    • Great ability to work in a dynamic environment and strong tolerance for ambiguity;

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
