Job Summary: The VP Sales - Industrial Solutions is responsible for driving profitable growth with the existing customer base and expanding new business and strategic accounts for Generac Industrial Solutions. Responsible for overall planning, organizing and managing of Industrial Sales related functions, and driving general acceptance of the Generac industrial products in order to achieve the company objective of revenue growth and profits. Evaluates market trends and competitive information to manage the sales strategy and ensure the future growth and profitability of the Industrial Solutions Sales Channel. Promotes relationships with electrical engineering firms, electrical contractors, general contractors and end user/owners, as well as collaboration with Generac Industrial Distributors to develop a complementary business growth process. Hires, directs and develops resources focused on key strategic markets to promote the Industrial Solutions growth initiative. Establishes decision making across the team and leads and develops cross-functionality.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute industrial sales and marketing strategies that achieve targeted revenue growth objectives, increase gross profit and expand market share;
  • Align organization's objectives with company and business strategy through active participation in strategic planning, annual planning and forecasting;
  • Monitor competitive activity, pricing and market trends and coordinate with sales operations, marketing and other functions to develop countermeasure strategies;
  • Develop and oversee annual sales operations and budgets through the tracking, monitoring, assessment and countermeasure of leading and lagging indicators including revenue, profitability and expense budget performance;
  • Direct sales planning process which includes an analysis of products, verticals, selling techniques, sales budgets, quotas, and pricing;
  • Partner with cross-functional business unit leaders (i.e. Product Development, Service, Marketing) to develop and establish programs and strategies that drive revenue and result in measurable market share growth;
  • Drive the Industrial Solutions team to increase customer focus, drive end user demand generation, outgrow the market, and consistently exceed commitments;
  • Lead, coach and develop sales and account management teams, carrying out managerial responsibilities in accordance with Generac’s policies, guidelines, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting with the appraisal of performance review; rewarding team members; advising as to the discipline of team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems;
  • Partner with company and business unit leaders to develop strategic relationships with dealers, retailers and other verticals;
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with electrical engineering firms, electrical contractors, general contractors and end user/owners, and collaborate with Generac Industrial Distributors to develop a complementary business growth process;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or related degree OR equivalent work experience;
  • 10 years of progressive experience in technical sales with specific experience in power generation, power transfer switch, automatic transfer switch or related field;
  • Previous experience successfully managing and leading sales teams that meet and exceed sales targets.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Power Generation, Heavy Equipment or Installed Industrial Equipment industries;
  • Strong experience in business to business selling products through distribution;
  • Ability to develop and manage financial plans and targets to drive sales and profitability for products and customers;
  • Ability to recognize market trends and evaluate competitor strengths and weakness;
  • Ability to successfully execute in a matrix environment, interact effectively at all levels and influence cross-functional teams;
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate people, build strong customer relationships and maintain positive team morale;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.
