Overview

Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our corporate headquarters in Waukesha, WI is seeking a QA Test Intern for our Remote Monitoring team. 

 

Are you interested in testing software for mobile, web, and high volume IoT systems?  If so you will work with members of the development team to test software through a variety of test processes including automated and manual tests, and have an important contribution to ensuring product quality.  This role is primarily responsible for developing tests and software code modifications as needed to complete testing requirements.  You will partner with members of the quality and development team to grow your experience within a software team while delivering test cases and test results for the sprint that align with agile development best practices.  As an intern you will have multiple virtual test environments at your disposal to fuel your excitement of building great software.

Responsibilities

During your internship you will gain skills in these key areas:

  • Detect software failures so that defects may be discovered and corrected.
  • Develop and document application test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications
  • Record and document results and compare to expected results.
  • Generate historical analysis of test results.
  • Document anomalies and issues.
  • Maintain software defects in the defect tracking system
  • Test execution of code in various environments under varying conditions
  • Operate and maintain test environments.
  • Provide application instructions for users.
  • Create meaningful error handling procedures for application code.
  • Create queries, scripts, web pages and other test artifacts
  • Participate in application planning meetings.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of the product API with external API consumers
  • Develop coded tests and software code modifications as needed to complete testing requirements

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • The ability to work 15-20 hours during the school year and full time during school breaks is preferred.
  • HTML5, MQTT, Message Queues, Web Services, Android and iOS devices
  • Proficient oral and written communication and able to write clearly and succinctly to get a message across

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of CSS, C#, Java
  • Mobile and Web Security
  • High volume transaction systems
  • Load and performance testing

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
