Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our office in Waukesha, WI is seeking a Marketing Manager.


The Marketing Manager is responsible for collaborating across the business to drive revenue and margin growth for their assignments. This role is responsible for leading development of innovative marketing plans for new products and coordinates, outbound marketing activities that are critical to achieving company goals and objectives. Additionally, this role collaborates to develop the messaging and positioning for products and drive the projects that bring them to life. This position reports to the .Sr. Marketing Manager.


  • Develop and execute corporate, brand and customer strategies, marketing to both businesses and consumer end users working independently and with cross-functional teams. Design and direct the work of cross-functional project teams.
  • Synthesize data into facts and analyze trends to create actionable marketing plans targeting businesses or consumer end users and to enable management of the business.
  • Execute channel launch plans within area of responsibility, overseeing the creation of promotional programming, such as in-store merchandising signage or displays, retailer feature ads, catalog layouts, events (trade shows),
  • Develop and coordinate comprehensive new product launches including launch kits, promotional materials, samples, literature, and product knowledge collateral to ensure successful commercialization.
  • Maintain knowledge of audience and competitive marketplace through working with sales, marketing and product management.
  • Develop and execute advertising, publicity and marketing communication plans to support defined business goals, utilizing traditional and innovative media.
  • Ensure consistency with brand guidelines and point of sale.
  • Write project briefs to initiate marketing projects and utilizes the project brief to define scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Proactively manage scope changes, identifies potential issues and devise contingency plans.
  • Develop merchandising plans including in store and on-line to ensure that the brand, category and product value propositions are properly conveyed to all members within the channel value chain.
  • Work with creative services of marketing materials, including but not limited to merchandising, literature, case studies, product announcements to support the growth and success of the residential and commercial product lines.
  • Collaborate with marketing peers to share and apply best practices, and build a best-in-class Marketing Management Team.
  • Act as SAP Super User within functional area as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field, OR 8 years related experience in the Marketing function within a similar working environment;
  • 3 – 5 years of product management, channel management, marketing management, project management, sales or business management experience.


Additional Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations;
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive, create, and implement a comprehensive marketing plan;
  • Ability to develop new product launch plans and promotional programs;
  • Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, analytics, internet technology and research;
  • Ability to understand and analyze information and research to best understand audiences, the market and the competitive situation and how that relates to marketing activity;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
  • Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast paced environment;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience within with 2 step distribution, B2B or B2C business environment.
  • Master’s Degree in Business or related field;
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
