Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our office in Eagle, WI is seeking an Online Training Specialist.


The Online Training Specialist is responsible for preparing interactive and classroom training materials using department software, tools, and information supplied by the Instructional Designers, Online Development Lead, and other internal customers.  This role is responsible for managing day-to-day group/user/curriculum set-up activities in the company Learning Management System as well as instructional and communication technologies. This role also provides support end-user help desk as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in meetings with internal clients and instructional designers to identify development needs to support training; assist internal customers in understanding inherent capabilities of system and software.
  • Demonstrate proficiency using a variety of development tools designed for audio production, authoring, animation, illustration, and print layout.
  • Generate and organize SCORM-conformant courseware packages.
  • Create, implement and follow thorough testing and validation procedures prior to course publication.
  • Organize and maintain e-learning catalogs, grouping structures and all content in both production and development LMSs to ensure order and consistency.
  • Organize and maintain curriculum development files on the department’s network drive to ensure order and consistency.
  • Maintain development project schedules and timelines.
  • Concurrently work on multiple projects with different timelines.
  • Write and maintain procedural documents for development and organize appropriately for quality audit.
  • Work independently, with IT team and technology vendors to troubleshoot and correct technical issues.
  • Act as SAP Super User within functional area as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Graphic or Web Design OR 4 years of experience within a similar working environment;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience preparing online training courses and support materials using Captivate or similar software, configuring and managing a learning management system to deliver and track e-learning workflow;
  • Proficiency in multiple development tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Flash, HTML5, PowerPoint, InDesign.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to create and follow department workflow and/or procedure documents to create courseware per department standards;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and adhere to deadlines and project plans effectively;
  • Excellent detail-orientation and organizational skills;
  • Ability to remain updated on e-learning design and technologies;
  • Ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Experience coding interactive content using JavaScript
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.


Physical Demands:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Travel to other facilities may be required.
